How did you meet?
We met by accident. I was going out on a girls night out with my best friend Katie in Portsmouth and she suggested we swing by a house party on our way into town of some friends of hers. The house party was at Dan’s house, we never made it out on our planned night out and spent the night at the party.
“We spent the rest of the night and early morning drinking coffee and watching Romeo and Juliet”
The way Dan proposed was amazingly special. I had been away working for three weeks and was 4 months pregnant with our son Jenson. We had had lots of complications in starting a family so this was a very special time for us. I was due to be flying back from London on Valentines day however due to bad weather the plane was cancelled and I ended getting a lift from a kind stranger, so was considerably later than planned. I got home to find that Dan had not only decorated the nursery but built all the furniture and set everything out ready for our little man’s arrival. I was so amazed with everything he had done I initially completely missed the open ring box in the neatly made crib !
How long did you have to plan your wedding?
We had nearly two years to plan our wedding from when we first visited to the day itself.
Why did you choose Polhawn Fort?
We loved the stunning views but also the ability to completely personalise the venue to our day and us as a couple.
Did you add any DIY elements to your day?
I had this crazy idea of levitating books as a table plan to fit in with our
Alice in Wonderland theme!
I couldn’t find anywhere that made what I wanted so I had to do it myself, raiding Hobbycraft on a weekly basis for decoupage equipment, was a far bigger job than I planned and I swore to never look at PVA glue again !
